HI Whynotne, The stand on the 85" BRAVIA 7 offers four fixed mounting options, meaning it is not continuously adjustable to custom widths like 40 or 45 inches; you must choose between the Narrow Position (approx. 24 inches) or the Standard Position (approx. 61.75 inches). However, to address your need for soundbar placement, the TV also features two specialized Soundbar Positions where the legs are mounted higher, providing a clearance of approximately 3.13 inches (80 mm) from the table surface to the bottom of the screen, which should allow most soundbars to sit in front without obstructing the picture.
