• It is, almost as good as the original that comes with the console. Understand, Sony is sorta veering away from PS3 now and do not put as much effort in quality for it's peripheral devices; it's all about the PS4 now.

• Yes, this is the official Sony controller for PS3. I had a bit of trouble finding a new one recently as well, as due to the age of the PS3, some stores like GameStop have stopped selling them new. Best Buy still sells them new however, so I would get one while you can. Nothing is worse than having to buy an old, sticky used controller, believe me.
