“CX405 - Can I use the HDMI out to display ONLY the video image and not a copy of the built in LCD screen. When I use the HDMI out cable it shows the menu and all the icons like I was looking at the built in screen.”

The HDMI out on this camera is not a clean HDMI. HDMI out on this particular camera is meant for playback purposes.
