Yes, you can take pictures of 12 - 14M resolution. The quality is better especially in low light due to its larger sensor. You can download photos / video from the camcorder without a chord, using Sony's Imaging app, with which you can control the video camera functions too. I am not sure about chord less with laptop / desktop

Please try again later.You can take still photos but you can only transfer pictures by taking the scarf out and downloading the pictures to your laptop it does not have the camera connect app which is a big disappointment I would like to be more satisfied with this camera for the price. The slow motion feature is not the greatest so I wouldn’t recommend it for doing slow motion
