Hi Odokei, Thanks for your inquiry. The speaker can be placed either vertically or horizontally (multi-placement). Both of the XB23s speakers are facing the same direction so you can get true Left/Right separation like the artist intended. This also means, if you lay it flat it sounds just as good as it does standing up. That being said the speakers are opposite the controls and the overall design lends itself to having the controls on the bottom if laid flat. For example there is a small ridge on the charging port that helps it stay put and you can also place the carrying strap underneath for more stability. For more information on placing the speaker vertically/horizontally, refer to this link here: https://helpguide.sony.net/speaker/srs-xb23/v1/en/contents/TP0002845018.html Hope this helps, Jess
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's a cylinder. I wouldn't lay it flat. It will roll.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not really, I wouldn't recommend it. In my opinion It's made to stand up you would get better sound. It will roll or muffle the sound if placed on its side .
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Because of the shape it can not lay flat but it takes up very little space standing
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, the speaker is meant to stand up like a tower. The speakers are orientated to the front and are not omnidirectional. It sounds best with the Sony logo at the top pointed in the direction you want the sound to go. If you lay the speaker down with the buttons up it will sound like it is trying to cry into a pillow which would be very sad.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.
