Hi TurboJobo, Thank you for your interest in the XB43. No, it will not change volume level when on battery or power cable. However, when the built-in battery runs very low the XB43 will reduce the volume output to protect the units components. This is not a malfunction, and normal volume levels will resume once recharged. We recommend charging the unit using the supplied AC adaptor to the DC IN 5V port on the speaker and an AC outlet. However if you have a power bank capable of outputting at the required level it will charge the speaker. Hope this helps! -Sam

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The volume actually stays the same. And actually no you cannot charge it through a power bank as the charger is outlet required only , but I’ll say this the battery life is really good I haven’t had any complains when I play my Sony speaker .
