  • QuestionCan you charge this speaker while it's on and in use? I've had some older XB series speakers that could only charge while they were off which meant if they died during a party, you were out of luck.

  • QuestionI'd like to know the major difference between the Xb43 vs Xb 33. Reading the specs side by side show only an aux port being the really difference. Is the sound quality or output that much different for the newer model or something else I am missing? Ty

    Asked by Dwlsing.

    • Answer Hi Dwlsing, Thank you so much for your inquiry! Aside from the one that you mentioned. The major difference of the SRS-XB43 and XB33 is that the SRS-XB43 are the speakers. While it is true they both use X-Balanced speaker designs, they are not the same. The XB43 has a 2-way speaker system. This combines a rectangular woofer for low to mid-range frequencies with a dedicated tweeter for the higher range frequencies (per side/channel). The result is exceptional vocal clarity. While the XB33 still utilizes our egg shaped X-Balanced single speaker per channel design. Resulting in great sound from smaller packages. Because of these extra speakers the XB43 is larger than the XB33 and weighs more as well. XB43 12.8 "x 4.8 " x 4.6 " (w/h/d) 6.5 lb XB33 9.7 " x 3.8 " x 4.2 " (w/h/d) 2.4 lb The XB43 also comes with a charger, not just the USB charging cable. I hope this helps! -Carl

  • QuestionIf I use the aux 3.5 mm input on one unit, will the Party Connect function allow that source to play on multiple units?

    Asked by Double.

    • Answer From the help files: When the speaker is in the AUDIO IN mode, you cannot use the Party Connect function. Connecting a portable audio device or an equivalent to the AUDIO IN jack on the speaker automatically places the speaker in AUDIO IN mode and terminates the Party Connect function.

  • QuestionI have WiFi with Alexa. Can I hook this up so it plays music stored with Alexa?

    Asked by Chris.

    • Answer Hi there, Thank you for your inquiry! Unfortunately, the SRSXB43 does not support wifi connection. The SRS-XB43 supports the following Bluetooth profiles for Bluetooth pairing. Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP) This will allow the speaker to connect to devices such as Amazon Echo Dot. You will need to connect it through the Alexa app on your phone. The speaker will then play the audio for the Dot. I hope this helps! Regards, Carl

  • QuestionI recently bought a Sony ht-st5000 Soundbar and it says in the manual "Stream music throughout the house with Sony | Music Center". Will this unit wirelessly connect with the Soundbar and is this over wifi or Bluetooth?

    Asked by runforestrun.

    • Answer Hi runforestrun, Thank you for your inquiry! Unfortunately, no. The SRS-XB43 does not have the capability to connect to the HT-ST5000 Soundbar through wifi in the Music Center. The ST5000 will transmit bluetooth to the XB43, however the ST5000 will not play audio at the same time. You can connect wifi enabled speakers like the Sony SRS ZR5 or ZR7 for whole home audio (not surround sound). You can also create a group in the Google Home app with other compatible Google Assistant speakers and have them all play the same music. The SRS-XB43 has the capability to either Stereo pair - 2 SRS-XB43, or Party connect (XB43/33/23 up to 100 devices) via bluetooth connection. Hope this helps, Carl

  • QuestionCan I play music from a USB or USB type C on the XB43?

    Asked by ANON.

    • Answer Hi ANON, Thanks for your inquiry! Unfortunately, no. The USB and USB type C port are not compatible with music playback. The USB port supplies power to the USB device, such as a smartphone or iPhone, connected by a USB cable (commercially available) for battery charging. And the USB type-C port is for charging the speaker when connected to an AC outlet via the supplied AC adaptor. • QuestionI bought this same model from Best Buy a week ago and your floor model plays a lot louder than mine. Is there a setting I need to adjust so my speaker plays loude? I use it through the Bluetooth input.

    Asked by Bluetooth.

    • Answer Hi Bluetooth, Thank you for reaching out. To ensure optimal listening experience, please download the Sony Music Center app. There you will find all sorts of tools to fine tune your XB43 and maximize the volume to your liking. There is even an EQ. Also, please make sure you fully charge the speaker, especially after it has gone below 10%, and hit the auto volume limiter (designed to keep your speaker safe). Then Increase the volume level of the wireless speaker and source devices. You may also find different devices will perform better than others, as will different apps due to different types of audio compression and transmission. LDAC devices tend to sound the best.
