Can you view HBO Max with this player? null

No. You can stream it from your phone, but then can't use your phone while streaming it onto your TV.

No, But you can get to Prime which allows some HBO and IMDB. HBO Max has been a problem since they released the update in mid December which killed a lot of Android device and Roku devices. I'm certain it was a planned "Kill" to force all the device manufacturers to sign new contracts with HBO.
