The correct answer is YES, but it requires a third party converter. Something like a C&E Digital Optical Coax to Analog R/L audio converter will allow you to connect from the player's digital coax OUT and convert that to analog RCA R/L connectors OUT. You will need the following: 1) The Sony player 2) Short digital coax cable to connect from player to converter 3) Digital to analog audio converter (which will come with own power and require another 110v outlet) 4) R/L speakers with male RCA plugs (usually red and white) If your speakers just come with bare speaker wire, you will need to purchase your own set of RCA male plugs and connect to your speaker wires.
