“I need to replace my defective Blu-Ray player. I don't yet have a 4K TV, but will be replacing my HD TV later this year. Can this Sony 4K player output 1080P to my current TV for existing discs until I upgrade, and then output 4K once I upgrade my TV?”

I've played standard blu-ray (1080p) and dvds (480p) with it on my 4k tv, so because it played those lower resolutions, it probably will on a lower res. tvs. Plus if it doesn't work on your tv, best buy gives you 14 days to return it.
