Do not adjust set down until you've confirmed this is the issue. It sounds like you have the switch set to play smaller vinyl albums. When you put in a larger size vinyl, the needle arm just swings to the center of the record loudly scratching along the way. Flip the switch. Set down on this has been pre-tuned by Sony and is recommended that you return to them if this is the issue as your unit is defective in that rare case.
