Hi, this unit has a built in preamp that is turned off by default. If you turn the switch on the back of the player from "phono" to "line" it will activate the built-in preamp for connecting the record player to normal line-in devices like your Vizio connection. You should have normal line volume and sound after that. This information is included in the manual for the player. I've uploaded an image so you can see what I'm talking about.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I also have my turntable connected to a Vizio home theater 5.1. I have found some albums just seem to sound better than others in sound quality. A better amp will definitely give a more quality sound. The Vizio is basically designed for TV output sound quality but does a decent job with music. You're not going to get audiophile quality. That takes a lot more money.
