I've transferred my iTunes library of well over 1200 songs over to it from my laptop. in order to give you an idea. It takes up close to the 16 GB of built in memory, but the NW-A45 has a memory card slot for more memory, for a max. of 128 GB I believe.

The Walkman comes with 16gbs of storage but about 5gbs are used by the operating system, so really there's only about 11gbs of onboard storage. The amount of music you can store on the walkman depends on what type of music files you choose to download. It can hold roughly about 2,500-3,000 standard mp3 files on the walkman (if it's only used for music). And it can hold maybe about 7,000 audio book files.
