Are they louder than the xm2? null

No. At the same Bluetooth level on my phone, the XM3 was quieter.

Not that I have noticed. They can get plenty loud though. I usually have my music player set at about the 40-50% level and then adjust from there with the headphones, and I can blow my eardrums out if I want.

I can tell you this much, the audio for the MK3 has a better dynamic range than that of the MK2. As far as pure loudness, I don't think there is a marked change. The MK2 was already plenty loud as it was. By the way, the noise canceling continues to be excellent. The MK3 is definitely worth the buy if you care about the dynamic range enhancement. Otherwise, the MK2 is a wonderful headphone in its own right.

Yes, I've owned both and they are a bit louder. The bass and overall sound quality is quite a bit better as well!

To my ears they are, mostly because the bass is a bit thicker and the over-all sound is more “rounded” and full. Also the Noise Cancelling is so good at blocking out outside noise you can focus on the music.
