These are much better and worth the extra $50 or however much the difference is at the time of reading this. The sound quality is better, the ANC is 4 times better, and they are much more comfortable. Plus, they charge with USB-C and have quick charging that gives you 5 hours of playback for just 10 minutes of charging.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had the M2 before these. So far I would say the noise cancellation seems to be improved a bit. They feel slightly more comfortable. They have USB C instead of micro USB for charging. And this is a minor thing but the buttons on the left eat cup now stick out a little so they are easier to find. On the M2 version they were flush which looked nice but you were always fiddling around to find them. But the M2 is also great if you want to save a little money.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I picked up the xm2's a week ago before finding out that the xm3's are being released this month. The reasons I'm returning the xm2 is for the fact that the ear cups get pretty hot and uncomfortable after a period of time where i need a break. $300 on a pair of headphones is a high price to pay when their uncomfortable. Supposedly from the reviews and youtube videos this problem has been fixed with the new ear cups on the xm3. Beyond that the better highs and lows while using ANC is a plus but also since i have a phone that has USB C it would be better to have that on the headphones as well. To me those are the reason's why it's worth the extra $50
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There are probably 2 main reasons why you should get the xm3 instead of the xm2. *Comfort - The XM3 has been designed to be lighter, fit differently on your head (potentially better if you felt the XM2 was too tight on your head), utilizes different earcup cushions that are claimed to be softer and have more room (inner cup volume). I myself frequently have problems with many over-the-ear designs having earcups that are too small for my ears. *Universally every review has mentioned that the active noise cancellation (ANC) has improved greatly. Why do we know that this is likely true and not just random marketing hype? Well, Sony actually changed the hardware design of the XM3s to have a separate processor dedicated to dealing with the ANC. I'm always skeptical when I find out that a company has just made a little software tweak or no real modification at all. The addition of a separate processor just to handle the ANC shows that Sony made a significant effort to improve the ANC which is the primary reason I am interested in these headphones. Hope that helps answer your question!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Honestly, I've owned the Bose QC35 IIs and the 1000XM2s, as they are pretty much the top 2 for BT ANC Headphones. I liked both. It was a toss up, truly, but I ended up keeping the Bose, simply for these 2 reasons: 1. The Bose, even though the sound quality was not a good as the Sonys, were far more comfortable. They are lighter, the ear cups are bigger, and the fit around the head better. For my main purposes, which was extended sessions (usually on flights or travel), comfort was far more important than sound quality, especially since I'm using the ANC to sleep, rest, etc. 2. The Bose has a ton of aftermarket ear cups for when the ear pads inevitably wear out. I know you can get earpads from Sony, but it's not as easy to do as the Bose. That being said, the 1000XM3s have addressed the comfort issue, and with their superior ANC and sound quality, as well as the plethora of features not available on the Bose, I'm going with the Sony. Build quality-wise, as well as the case/packaging, Sony also wins here. I think it's worth the $50 upgrade.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would encourage you to watch some youtube videos on the differences. But everything I am reading and have watched says get the M3's their noise cancelation is improved over the already good M2's.
