Hi HaroldRay, thank you for inquiring about our industry-leading noise-canceling headphones. The WH-1000XM3 can be hooked up using the supplied headphone cable or Bluetooth connection. You may consider getting our WH-L600 Digital Surround Wireless Headphones instead. The WH-L600's charging stand has multiple audio inputs for easy connection to devices like your TV, Blu-ray player and games consoles. You can connect via 0.14" stereo, Optical Digital and HDMI cables. You may check the specification below for more details: https://www.sony.com/electronics/headband-headphones/wh-l600 Sincerely, Erin
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Sony WH-1000XM3 are really good headphones and should connect to any Bluetooth Transmitter (Phone, Laptop, HD Bluetooth transmitter etc...). I use mine Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones mainly for listening to music manly on my phone ("Ok Google" button for commands, text messages, receive phone calls) and a Sony app for controlling sound effects. If you want to use an Optical out (Sound) from a TV or Stereo/5.1, 7.1 receiver you would need to look into a Bluetooth transmitter that sends a strong Bluetooth signal to any Bluetooth receiver. Someone at Bestbuy should be able to help you reach your goal of using optical sound out so it can be received by your headphones (and soundbar). You want to make sure the transmitter has low Latency (< 40). I purchased an Avantree Oasis Bluetooth transmitter which works well sending input sources to Bluetooth devices (2 devices at a time).
