Actually I was able to pair—I just had to keep the transmitter disconnected from the receiver and the headphones disconnected from the phone. It took several minutes but they did pair and the distance range exceeds my expectations. I’m losing hearing to age and even hearing aids don’t help much in some sound levels (mostly lower tones). This lets me free range throughout the house while watching TV and being able to hear everything. While my primary use is still blocking airplane noise with music during business travel, the added TV interconnectability is a huge benefit that helps justify the cost. I had the first set of digital NC headphones Sony put out and this is an even better replacement.
