It has 3 levels of noise cancellation and uses them based on outside noise picked up by the integrated mic. I have nonissues with outside noise as I am listening to music.

I do like the sound in these produce very strong clear for instrumental or Orchestral. Tested the plane noise in youtube did block the sound good when tested the fan too, it was block 75% Note to this that it can't block human voice!
