You can use the auxiliary write to plug into your controller, but they have to be powered on to get the bass boost. They don't work like a headset though, as in, you cannot use voice chat with these, you won't be heard. Which is a shame because they indeed make war games very much more awesome. I suggest the PlayStation Gold headset, great sound in a lightweight package.

You do have the option to use the supplied headphone cable and connect it to the controller of the PS4. The bass effect option adds an extra bass boost for war games that makes you feel like your in the game itself.
