This is done by metering modes in the menu. You have to experiment with each on your own. Each will adjust brightness according to the setting you're in. For the most part multi meter works good. Another thing that adjusts exposure is the face exposure setting in the menu. It will auto default to adjusting exposure to the lighting on your face. If youre not vlogging you may want to turn this off. Also the defocus button, which remove bokeh in the background will dim the exposure. When you hit the focus again the exposure will adjust to your face and the background will blur again.

For outdoor you can set the ISO between 80-400 and for indoor 800-3200 depending on the lighting conditions.
