• Yes, this is what they refer to as Mono mode. Using one earbud while the other is in the case (& charging if necessary).

• Yes, I'm doing it right now. I was listening to a song, took out the left ear bud, put it in the case. This paused the song. I tapped the right ear bud and the song resumed.
