Is there a slot to hold the Apple Pencil? null

There is not a slot, but there is a small elastic piece on the right edge of the back to hook the pencil on

I wanted to update my answer above. While there is an elastic loop, it is too small to actually slide the pencil through. At least mine is.

No, unfortunately, there is no slot fo the Apple Pencil. There is a slim, elastic tab on the side where a pencil holder could be that me be able to squeeze in a slim stylus, but there is no designated spot for it.
