“I've had this laptop for about 6 month and the battery discharge when unplugged and totally shut off is high. Anyone else experience this issue and find a solution? I would not think the battery would be discharging when completely shut off!”

Yes, with Windows 10 when you shut off the computer it still uses a very little amount of power so that the computer can quickly turn on again. You can turn this feature off in the power settings.
