• It connects to WiFi or ethernet. So however you can connect to the internet. If you have an older phone that has a USB internt tethering, then yes you can connect it. Given the WiFi is terrible I have to hotspot my phone and connect to the internet that way.

• It runs off WI-FI but mine came with the Ethernet HUB included. If your phone will run a hot spot, then you could connect it to your phone wirelessly.
