I've been thinking about bringing out my old gamecube again, however I'm always disappointed with my old controllers. Will this new controller work in my old gamecube? I mean it does have the same plug in right? That's why it needs the adapter. null

Yes, this will work on your old GameCube. Connected to it is the plug that’ll connect straight to the GameCube itself. The adapter sold separately connects to the switch via usb and you plug the GameCube controller into that.

It WILL work with a gamecube. The back of the package features a chart that shows it will work with your original Gamecube, the Wii, the Wii U, and the Switch. Talk about longevity for one controller, eh? It looks and feels exactly as all the controllers did right out of the package 17 years ago. Works great.

Yes, the controller is actually better than the original Gamecube ones sold in stores as the cable length is a few feet longer, and has a matte finish compared to a glossy type. Likewise, it has the same exact cable end as the OG one, so you WOULD need an adapter to play on Switch or Wii U.

It technically will work, but your mileage may vary. As others have said, it has a gamecube style plug, so you don't need an adapter to connect it to a gamecube (or backwards compatible wii). BUT, the quality isn't well-suited for playing on a gamecube. I tried it on Super Smash Bros. Melee and was very dissapointed. The sticks don't function properly for me - they both have a noticeable drift, and the inputs don't always work (can't drop from the ledge, for example). They feel fine on my Wii U though.
