Thank you for reaching out to us. Yes, this item will recorder onto its hard drive without internet access. You will have to connect your unit to a monitor using the VGA or HDMI ports on the back.

Please be advised that internet access is required for remote access via mobile device/computer.

You don't need internet. The system is entirely hardwired, and it's DVR can then be connect directly to a TV using normal hookups. This will allow for both live viewing and recorded events.

I believe the internet is for the Swann home safe view app so you can be able to see your cameras live thru your smartphone
