Great cameras if you need to go wired

I bought two additional cameras to use all 8 channels. Swann app works good, easy to configure and uses very little bandwidth. I recommend this product. Also I did need to contact their tech support, very good service, very helpful and knowledgeable engineers.

Great resolution

They have a really good picture. The app to view on your mobile phone was extremely easy to use. Wish the camera pivoted without having to unscrew them to make it easier to get the right view. But other than that glad my husband and I purchased this brand.

Sad to see it not work properly

I can only see my cameras via their mobile application. Definitely not user error either. I’ve reset the unit and tried mutual email cables for HDMI and cables to the cameras. Nothing seems to fix the issue.

You'd think they could spend an afternoon and update the manual. As it is, it's very difficult to understand the workings of the system when the manual just makes things more confusing. The hardware itself is fine. After you figure out how things work, you can link thru the internet and your wifi. It can be fine tuned for motion sensitivity and send alerts to your phone. Or you can see live views on your phone. You will need to connect to a TV for the setup, even if you will normally be viewing on your phone. I still don't have my system fine tuned adequately, but I think I'll be able to sort out the bugs. Overall, it's a pretty versatile system.

Good security camera system with lots of features

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had a Q-see, but switched to this system since Q-See went out of business and no longer supports remote viewing. First thing that I noticed is that the cameras have a plastic housing and no cover. We'll have to see how the cameras hold up to the weather. Q-see cameras had a metal housing and cover. There are 3 separate adjustments to position the cameras. Kind of a hassle especially when adjusting side to side. A feature that I do like is that these cameras have thermal sensing and thus are not triggered by all movement. However, if there is enough movement such as on a windy day, then swaying branches will trigger the camera. Another feature is the spotlight and color night vision. The verdict is still out on these features though as using the spotlight seems to cause loss of detail even if the picture is now in color. Also, the spotlight is bright enough to enable night color, but the picture is overall dark. There are adjustable picture settings on each camera so perhaps playing with these settings will yield better views. The DVR is near silent which is very much appreciated since the prior system had a noisy fan. Phone app works well and was very easy to connect. PC App for Windows 10 was also easy to connect. Except phone app and Windows 10 app have different controls and capabilities. It would have been nice to keep everything consistent between both apps and the primary monitor. An example is that I can turn the spotlight on with the phone app, but that doesn't seem possible with the PC app. Also haven't figured out how to playback clips using the PC app. There are a lot of features with the Swann system. I'm still new to this system so I'm sure I'll discover more. Overall seems to be a good security camera system. Recommend.

- A:Answer Yes you can. It’s good for close up or distance. I’ve attached photos of both examples and also the screen with all camera views. Hope this helps. It gives you a step by step instruction guide. I’ve been using Swann for 5 years. I’ve had a total of 5 systems for both of my stores. I’ve replaced one twice but only because the quality continues to get better and I finally broke down and got the big system. That is the way to go if you have a need for 5 or more cameras. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask anymore questions. -Tracy. PS, one thing I will say is the image isn’t as crisp on my phone as it is on the monitor attached to the system. I’m imagining it’s because of the 1080p resolution. It’s super crisp on my monitor. So crisp that the police have commented on it and actually used it in a homicide investigation. (Sorry to go dark there but it just says a lot about the resolution.)
