The lights are an integral part of the cameras. They can be set to go on if motion is detected and may also be turned on manually from the phone app by simply tapping the light bulb icon. They are not extremely bright but they can illuminate a stair well fo instance and will then record and dislpay in color. Being integral to the camera, they point wherever thwe camera is pointing. They are powered through the cable by the camera power supply.
