• You only need an HDMI cable if you want to connect a device to the TV such as a cable box or DVD player.

• You can use this TV with a coaxial cable instead of an HDMI cable if you choose, but then you won't get high definition.

• Yes, use HDMI cable for all Smart TV's & any new TV. If you ever by a Smart 3D TV. Purchase a HDMI 3D cable.
