It would depend upon the quality of your AV receiver and 4K player. Not all home theater components are created equal. Unless you have audiophile/videophile grade components, my advice would be to run sources directly to the tv. Most components sold at BestBuy do not perform at audiophile/videophile levels. I am using a Panasonic UB9000 connected directly to the TCL 75" series 6 with Chocolate Audioquest HDMI, and the picture is very good. The less the signal has to pass through the better, but some tv's have limited HDMI ports, which dictates the need to run the signal through a receiver. Test the video quality with and without the receiver. Pick movies you are familiar with and compare the colors, shadow details, sharpness, etc. Enjoy and good luck!

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Run everything into the receiver. Like you said, one HDMI 2.0 ARC to ARC (Audio Return Channel) from the AV receiver to the TV. The only thing besides that connected to my TV is an OTA and USB drive for pausing live television.
