If you buy a physical version of this game (not though Nintendo's eShop or some other online digital retailer), its a physical Nintendo Switch game cartridge that is about the size of a regular SD card. It has to be in the console in order to play.

In lament terms, its a physical game cartridge.

Either. I don't know how they fit it all on the game cart while 3rd party retro games only have half the game on the cartridge. Seriously it's like Google Earth + Streetview versus the small tile they allow you to save for offline navigation.

If you buy it from Best Buy, it will be a cartridge. If you buy it from Nintendo, it will be digital. There are advantages to both: The Cartridge, you can take with you and play on other Switch's. The Digital download is limited to only your login and those who have an user on your login. One cannot have it both ways without buying 2 copies (which is the next obvious question...).
