I used a different e-mail account because I already had a Tidal account at a much higher price and had no problem.

Yes, you get a code. You go to Tidal, say you have a code to redeem then create a new Tidal account. You can use any email at that point as long as a Tidal account hasn't already been associated with it.

Yes, different email addresses are fine. BUT the subscription starts on day it is purchased. Keep that in mind if you plan of gifting.
