• This tv requires a cellphone or tablet to access the "smart tv" functions. There is no apps menu on the tv. It's clunky, so I would recommend a 4K Roku box.

• We got this tv for my parents. The only thing we needed was an HDMI cable to hook it to the cable DVR box. Otherwise, it was good to go for their needs. Another cable may be needed if my parents ever get a dvd player again. I brought an HDMI cable with me when I connected my laptop to the tv to show them pics and videos.

• for connecting to a cable box via coax, av ports or HDMI all you need is the cable(s) to connect. If you have a TV now that you connect to you should be all set. A HDMI connection would be best.
