“I am using the headphones output on the TV to go to a sony home audio system. I'm trying to set it to permanently use "fixed" vs "variable" output, but I can't find where this is! I have to replug in the jack every time!!! Is there a way to fix this?”

Use an optical cable to connect the tv to an audio system. Any other connection defeats the purpose.
