This device requires a 2.4GHz band to be broadcasted. Most routers broadcast 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands even if you do not see them. If you do not have separate SSIDs for each band, you won't have a problem setting this up in the proprietary Tapo app. However, if you plan to use this with Homekit, connect your phone to the 2.4GHz band to complete the setup. To do so, you must either disable the 5GHz band, or lower the power with which it is broadcasted. After setup is complete, you can re-enable or restore full power to the 5GHz band. (It took me two days to figure this out.) I am unsure if the same trouble exists when adding to other Matter ecosystems.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This plug only connects to 2.4GHz WiFi networks.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you are talking about mobile 5G like T-Mobile's 5G @ Home, its possible. The router for the service would have to broadcast a 2.4GHz wireless signal but if it does it would work. If you mean 5GHz, some people refer to it as 5G as short hand, then No the plug only operate with 2.4GHz wireless.
