How else would the battery charge? They don’t draw power from the controller, they just access via the headphone jack.

I was like; why does a wired headset have a charger? wouldn’t it defeat the whole purpose of a wire?? his answer was that although you don’t need to charge it, charging will increase the bass boost (:
