“When I hit the save button it should save a 1 minute clip then go back to loop recording but it stays on save mode until it fills up the card and stops recording. Is there a way to fix this? I'm about to throw this thing in the trash.”

• If you look at your manual, it'll guide you to an option called looped recording. With this option turned off, the camera will stop recording once the storage is full.

• I have basically the same problem. I hit save and it STARTS recording a new file that it saves. Then writes over the actual thing I wanted to keep. Seems like a common problem, but I just got a 32GB card so that it can record for hours and hours before looping and wiping my actual event.
