• Yes, the database on the detector is updated when you use the included usb cable to connect to a computer and update from their support site. Additionally, you can adjust the settings to detect MRCD radars associated with traffic cams (found quite often in larger cities). This worked for me in Austin, TX

• Yes, the R7 detects speed and red light camera locations when GPS is enabled. It will pick up stationary radar as well.
