Q: QuestionCan the police detect that you are using it?(19 answers)
A: AnswerShort answer, Yes. The R7 is fairly good at blocking out a wide range of RDD’s but IS detectable by SPECTRE RDD’s. When the R7 was tested by SPECTRE devices, the detections were inconsistent and had to be close in order to pick up the signal. The Escort Redline EX does block out All RDD’s.Answered by JoeyB
- A: AnswerOne thing radar detectors are competing against for newer cars are the safety sensors. Cars that emit collision avoidance, lane monitoring, stop monitoring and similar features can set off the K band on the radar detector. With that said, the R7 has a new firmware upgrade that incorporates a notch filter K Block Feature (24.194 – 24.205GHz) to improve detection of these safety systems. This will lessen the capability to notify you to true K band alerts, so you can enable/disable this feature, as needed.

Q: QuestionWhat is vascar and how does it work?(3 answers)
A: AnswerIt’s a speed measurement tactic generally used/measured from an elevated position (bridge/aircraft) to observe distance and time relationship. Officer starts a timer at known point and ends timer at “finish line” Calculation is made and observation is radioed to ground unit to issue citation. Not detectable in advance by any electronic device. This enforcement tactic is somewhat uncommon except for certain municipalities/provinces.Answered by TEXman

Best radar for the money
Best radar for the money. Such an easy set up, it’s very stable and doesn’t fall down like other brands like the cobra. Lots of different bands and also easy to mute

Uniden R7 is the best!
The Uniden R7 has easily paid for itself! I love the fact that it tells you the direction the radar signal is coming from plus the band. The audible warnings are clear and give you plenty of time to react. I have mine direct wired into the rear view mirror and mounted securely to the windshield with the included suction cup. This model will pick up a radar signal from very far away giving you ample time to react. I also like the GPS speed reading that it provides as a check against your actual speedometer. I wouldn’t drive without it!

Great All-Around
The R7 with its latest firmware update from early 2021 is truly a stellar detector. It does a great job at filtering false radar sources from most vehicles, and now learns to block out non-moving radar like door openers and speed signs. Definitely the best detector for the price and it isn't even close.
