ALso, I'm considering a Samsung home Theater and the speaker wires have propriotary connectors can these wires be spliced like any speaker wire?”

It might work, but I'd question the sound quality. Also, you're further complicating things with those proprietary connections. You probably can modify them, but you may wind up destroying them in the process.
