I suggest you check the SP cable. (LOL). No, seriously, my first idea is that you may have speaker wires crossed at some point. The color or stripe on the speaker wires does not matter. What DOES matter is that you run the same wire positive to positive, negative to negative, etc.

I would recommend changing your speaker wire, and once finished, test your setup to ensure that your receiver is working properly. If you are still experiencing the "check SP cable" issue, then I would recommend contacting Yamaha for additional support--as it may either be a problem with your receiver.
