Yes,it plugs in to electrical outlet. The cord is 300 Volt,I personally run it on my 2200 watt predator invertor/generator and even with my ps4 pro and tv and lamp on it runs fine,the only problem I've had with my unit is cassette tapes have some issues when I put them in. Although it could just be the cassette tape I'm trying to play. I received a somewhat free ( Just had to pay shipping) replacement needle for this model when I bought it.I just had to go on the victrola website and make an account and put in a code.
