I have an older Samsung TV that doesn't have an HDMI ARC input, so I hooked mine up with the optical cord. On the TV remote settings go to MENU>SOUND>MODE>SPDF OUTPUT select PCM>Auto delay 0>SPEAKER SELECT External Speaker. Then go to your Roku and select settings>Audio>Set Audio mode to Stereo>Set HDMI to PCM-Stereo. See if that works for you.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.My Samsung is not a newer one and after reading and re-reading the directions connected the sound not using the HDMI port as was recommended. It was a challenge and I finally got it working using the included remote (and muting the tv with it's remote to eliminate the "echo" sound). I knew I had everything correctly connected by doing the sound test. I stream with a Roku and have never been able to control sound with the remote on the tv. Good luck!
