Try re-enabling ECO mode on the sound bar - there appears to be a firmware bug where disabling ECO mode prevents the subwoofer from waking up in some instances.

I have to manually turn on the subwoofer every time. I called Vizio and they had me do a reset and start over. That didn't work. They seem to know less than I do. I read in that the subwoofer has to be in a "line of sight" position to communicate with the sound bar, which is completely unworkable because the furniture is in the way and can't be moved. I'm not going to put the subwoofer in the middle of my living room!

But I’m okay with this since I mostly listen to music through the sound bar and don’t want the sub on all the time. How were you able to turn the sub on from the controller?
