“It said on the box you can add speakers. Do they make them special to go with it or what? We replaced our old Sony multi room sound system with this but cant find how to add speakers for other rooms for this one. Thanks”

This is a closed system, meaning that it doesn't allow for additional speakers to be added to it. You can however use the SmartCast features to cast content to multiple speakers at the same time.
