The Vornado Window Fans are not screwed into the frame. They are contoured on the bottom to rest into the grooves in the bottom of your window. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It is secured by the window. There are foam pieces to secure it if needed. For some windows, screens might be a problem. However, I have permanent hurricane screens and it fits just fine. It will not provide significant cooling if it is very hot. However, it will help circulate the air or move some of the hotter air outside if your AC is down.
