• We had the same problem so we did the old fashion way and just put a clear packing tape over the speaker. It works every time.

• All of the sounds are too loud -- such as playing messages -- even with the volume slider as low as possible. Is there any way to lower the volume?

• Hi - You can turn off the call screening feature of the VTech SN5147 for you not to hear the announcement and the incoming message not to play out loud when someone is leaving a message on the built in answering machine. Thank you, -VTech Support
