• No parent unit runs on a cordless phone battery. It comes with a charger

• the rechargeable batteries are in the monitor, and the monitor is supposed to stay plugged in unless you need to use it while you move around or go outside, etc. You just take it off the plug to use it, but try to remember to put it back after use or at night.
