“Does the phone have the ability for the answering machine to kick on when I am using the phone as it is not working on mine.”

Yes , just tried it, and the answering machine did answer after the set amount of rings. However, it answered with the preset message and not our custom recorded message .Make sure you don;t have the message system to answer after 8 rings. That's a lot of rings. Ours is set to 4.

If you are using only one line, you may subscribe to Voicemail service with your telephone company so callers have an option to leave a message if you are using the phone. If you have two lines connected to the VTech phone, you may subscribe to Rollover Service with your provider so the 2nd call will rollover to the 2nd line and the built-in answering system on L2 can pick up the call if you are engage on a call on L1.
