The WD 10TB EasyStore connects via USB so it will work with your laptop provided it has a USB port. Drive is USB 3.0, but will work (just more slowly) when connected via USB 2.0. The drive isn't easily portable since it requires a separate power brick for power. If your storage needs are modest, consider getting something like a WD Passport that gets its power directly via the USB cable. Also consider getting two drives so one can be stored offsite. Backups can be made with free software like SyncBack Free.
